About Nathan Amthor
I work with people who keep ending up in the same place and want to understand why. My part is to listen, to see how the pieces fit together, and to help you build a different response.
How I came to this work
I have spent my career understanding systems: tracing how they behave, explaining them in plain language, and training the people who use them. My current work applies the same investigative discipline to the patterns that shape people’s decisions, relationships, and change.
That interest became a practice. I co-developed Akashic Trancework, a way of guiding people into a direct conversation with themselves, and I taught it in initiation classes and workshops while working privately with clients.
People came to me lost, confused, stressed out, bewildered. What I helped them to do was organize their thoughts, organize their feelings, come to heart-centered awareness, and understand the relationship between their spiritual experiences and their physical experiences. They became able to make peace with their thoughts, to make peace with their feelings, and to live more intentionally.
What the sessions taught me
When I first started doing trancework, I would always induce people into trance. Over the years I learned that there are many ways in. Sometimes it’s visualization, or asking questions, or somatic work. Sometimes it’s just holding silence with people, or just listening.
Most of it is listening. That’s what I’m good at: listening, mirroring, asking questions, suggesting. I take people through chains of associations, I ask telling questions about what they are thinking and feeling, and I give them practices they can use. The way I talk with people in these sessions is different from what I’ve experienced in my own conversations with friends.
Alchemy, and why the work is bespoke
Hermetic alchemy is the framework I think in. To me the Emerald Tablet is a fully unified and authoritative model, and everything we do in this work can be modeled and understood with it. I turned my studies and writings on alchemy into a workbook of practices, drawing closely on the work of Dennis William Hauck.
People take to different practices. Visualization suits some, and questions, the body, or silence suit others. So I think the work needs to be a bespoke practice. That is what Human Design offers me: a way to look at someone’s design and see how alchemy can help that person in particular.
I have studied Human Design for four years. Out of that study I developed an interpretive system that reads a chart through the question a person brings.
What I listen for
I help people cut through the noise and figure out what they need.
The noise is thoughts, memories, and pressure: from the environment, from ourselves, from our identities and expectations, from the roles we play, and from the constant fear stories many of us are being fed. Mostly it’s memories, the ones we keep replaying.
I have always been interested in needs literacy and in Marshall Rosenberg’s practice of Nonviolent Communication, as a way of learning the observational truth and learning what one needs. So the work heads toward clarity: how you feel, in simple emotional terms, what you need, and perhaps a way to ask for that need to be met.
The Vision of Sound
In 2023 I showed The Vision of Sound at ArtPrize in Grand Rapids. Visitors sang, played instruments, or made sounds into a microphone and watched the sound become moving images on a screen. It grew from the same fascination as everything else I do: taking something invisible and making it visible enough to work with.
What I want for you
I want you to have healthy relationships. I want you to enjoy your life, finish your projects, follow your interests, and thrive with room to breathe.
To me, enlightenment is about letting go of heaviness.
I want people to actually have results. My aim is for you to leave with something that works in your life and that you can carry on your own.
I recently had a Human Design session with Nathan, and I can honestly say it was both helpful and healing. Having a deeper understanding of my design has given me a whole new framework for navigating life โ with more acceptance, more delight, and a genuine sense of trust in who I am and how Iโm meant to move through the world...I truly believe everyone should book a session. You wonโt regret it

There are two ways to begin: a private session, or a written reading of one question.
